Manchester Color Me Rad 5k

Road Race Name: Manchester Color Me Rad 5k
Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Distance: 5K
Price: $50
Race Rating: 7.5/10

Course Review:
The course was relatively simple and was mostly straightforward, until you reached the half way point of 2.6 miles where you rounded a cone on the road and went back to the start/finish line. There were 6 colored archways in total (3 in each straightaway) along the road. You would run through each archway and volunteers were standing on each side, throwing a mixture of cornstarch and coloring (completely safe). The race was done in waves which helped keep the course from getting too packed, and you could run with a few people through the archway, or you could stand there for a few moments to get completely covered in powder. Overall I would say that the course was very easy to follow, since you could generally see the next archway after you passed through one. There were plenty of volunteers to ensure that every participant could have the experience they wanted.

Overall Course Rating: 8/10
Race Atmosphere Review:
The atmosphere of the race was the best that I've encountered. I ran in wave 2, so the party had already started and I got a glimpse of all the color and excitement of that morning, even though it was cloudy and foggy out. It was great to see everyone so excited to run the course and color their pure white shirts. Every time we went through the archways of color, everyone was laughing and happy to get a face full of colored cornstarch. Once the race finished, it was time to begin the party which was truly incredible. You were given a color bomb which was a baggy filled with the same cornstarch used in the archways by the volunteers. About 10 minutes after the race was over, the MC (who did incredible work and always kept the crowed dancing) told everyone to through their "color bombs" into the air after his countdown. We all of course followed his instructions and at the end of 3...2...1...throw! the entire park in front of the stage filled with powder and you could barely see. This however didn't stop the music and dancing, and the party continued for another 3 hours. Every 5-10 minutes we would be thrown new color bombs and the throwing would happen again and again. It was an amazing experience and I highly recommend it to anybody of any age.

Overall Race Atmosphere Rating: 10/10

Post Race Food and Drink Review:
There is not much to say in this section since a big spread of food wasn't really a great idea with all the cornstarch in the air. There was however bottled water, bananas and granola bars if anyone was interested. The party was going on the entire time though, so I didn't mind that there wasn't a lot of food.
Overall Post Race Food and Drink Rating: 3/10
